The trial and damnation of Jesus is filled with more agony than we will ever know. He was persecuted by His own people on false charges, they outlawed Him without an indictment, sent to death row, and abandoned by everyone including His heavenly father. In the words of the Creed, He descended into Hell. And He did so for our sake, so that we could be declared righteous and innocent.
