I got together with non-Christians and Christians to hear their reaction to what Jesus says about money.

Three questions for you:
1) What do you think Jesus means by “treasure”?
2) Where have you invested the most money?
3) Can you change your heart by changing where you spend your money?

Comment with your answer, can’t wait to see what you have to say!

You want to be informed, but the information is overwhelming.

Sure, there’s good news, but only after you scroll past or listen through the onslaught of pandemics, protests and politics.

So you’re left with a few choices when you have news fatigue–you could avoid the news altogether, but that comes at the expense of ignorance. You could cherry-pick where you get your news, but that comes at the risk of misinformation. You could keep logging onto or turning on the news, but that comes at the high price of personal well-being.

Fortunately, there’s another choice when you feel information overload and news fatigue, and it’s a lesson we find when Jesus was fighting news fatigue.

Chances are, you’ve never tried to do what Jesus says to do about worry.

Worry doesn’t just steal our happiness. Like falling dominoes, worry robs our health, our diet, our blood pressure, our relationships, and more.

So it shouldn’t surprise us that Jesus, who says he came to GIVE us a full life, would like to stop worry and anxiety from robbing us of that life.

But his teaching is so subtle, so fast, it’s rarely practiced. Let’s see what happens when you give it a try.

where Jesus wants to teach you about
worry only takes about a minute hey my
name is Chris Paulo and welcome to what
Jesus says about where Jesus speaks for
himself so you can respond for yourself
and don’t forget to hit like and
subscribe so you can stay up to date on
what Jesus says about topics important
to you topics like what Jesus says about
worry and I don’t know what’s causing
you to worry right now maybe it’s a loss
of something or to fear something that
you feel threatened whatever it is
there’s this one time where Jesus is
teaching a particularly anxious group of
people and he tells them do not worry
look at the birds they neither sow or
reap or store in barns and yet your
heavenly Father feeds them and on the
surface we’re like okay that’s nice
Jesus look at the birds okay what else
you got but this is actually one of
those teachings that I think people know
but actually don’t practice because in
one of the biographies of Jesus written
by a man named Luke the word for look
that he uses there is consider or wave
or gaze upon until something is
discovered weird that you and I would
use for that as meditate so here’s what
I’d like to do right now I’d actually
like to practice this teaching of Jesus
and so whatever you’re feeling right now
whatever you’re doing right now let’s
just press pause on all of it and we’re
gonna put up a live cam of birds right
now who are doing their bird thing and
and we’re gonna see what we discover
when we do what Jesus suggests and
consider the birds it’s just one minute
you can do this you ready here we go
[Music]
yes so what did you discover for me
personally there is something about
their carefree nature and there’s
something about like just the way they
went about their business but but now
that we’ve considered the birds
Jesus has three follow-up questions that
he asks ready so the first question he
asks is kind of rhetorical he says are
you not more valuable than the birds and
he’s not saying the birds aren’t
valuable he’s just saying that on the
sliding scale of life there’s birds but
you are more valuable than birds to your
heavenly Father and then the second
question he asks is can any of you by
worrying add a single hour to your life
worry subtracts our energy it subtracts
our attention it subtracts from our
happiness you get exercise to extend
your life you can eat healthy to extend
your life but worry will not extend your
life and then we get to our third
question and this one’s not rhetorical
this one’s actually for reflection and
he says since you cannot do this very
little thing why do you worry about the
rest and here Jesus is being kind of
blunt he’s bringing us to a recognition
of what we can and can’t control and
when we’re faced with that uncertainty
of what we can’t control we have two
choices either worry or trust and so I’d
love to hear your answer in your
comments below why do you worry about
the rest gonna take a little bit of
honesty but I really I think we’ll all
benefit from this discussion so I look
forward to hearing what you have to say
we’ll see you soon

Somehow, it’s fitting that we’re spending Easter indoors.

Social isolation and social distancing during the Coronavirus has changed the way we live. Businesses, schools and even churches have turned online because of COVID-19 stay-at-home orders and quarantine efforts.

But when we celebrate Easter at home, we suddenly have a new perspective to consider the importance of the resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus takes on the Coronavirus!

Our lives are dominated by COVID-19 right now. We might venture out to buy groceries and paper towels, but for most of the day we’re quarantined in our homes with hand sanitizer, watching the news and waiting for a vaccine. This is the new normal for the foreseeable future, and probably further.

But while we practice self-isolation and social distancing to ride out this pandemic, you and I can actually use this new experience (for us) to consider the significance and impact of Jesus like never before.

with everything going on with the
coronavirus and covet 19 what does Jesus
say about disease and why would it
matter we should talk about it hey my
name is Chris Pavle and welcome to what
Jesus says about where Jesus speaks for
himself so you can respond for yourself
and don’t forget to hit subscribe so you
can stay up to date on what Jesus says
about topics important to you topics
like what Jesus says about disease and
when it comes to disease Jesus’s actions
speak louder than his words and it’s a
message that we usually miss in the 21st
century until we encounter a disease
that causes so much concern a disease
like the corona virus now in the ancient
world if you had an infectious disease
you were declared unclean or you were
called untouchable and if you had an
infectious disease like let’s say
leprosy and you saw someone coming near
you you had to shout out at the top of
your lungs unclean unclean so they could
avoid contamination from you and you’re
untouchable disease and so if you had an
infectious disease you would have to
leave the community and quarantine
yourself in the wilderness and intense
isolation and social distancing so you
wouldn’t contaminate anyone else sound
familiar
enter Jesus and what makes him so
remarkable to the first century audience
and what we usually miss when we read
about him is that he was unafraid of
disease and in the biographies of Jesus
you read over and over how he would heal
people who had deadly infectious
diseases and and when he would heal them
that wasn’t with a wave of his hand or a
magic word when Jesus would heal people
he would touch them he would touch the
untouchable and not with like rubber
gloves and hand sanitizer and a mask on
now you would just reach out in
compassion and skin-to-skin touch them
and once you wish follow her name’s
Matthew is watching all of this and he
starts to think back to the words of a
prophet named Isaiah there was written
hundreds of years before Jesus and he
described what the Messiah would do and
so in his biography of Jesus Matthew
makes sure to mention this when he
writes
jesus healed all the sick to fulfill
what was spoken through the prophet
Isaiah he took on our sickness and
carried our diseases
this means that Matthew discovered
something about Jesus because of the
sickness he realized that the promised
Messiah wouldn’t just come to heal our
disease was more than that he would
enter into our suffering and touch our
untouchable disease so why does any of
this matter right now well just like
Matthew I believe that you and I can
transform this into an experience where
we can discover something about Jesus
the easiest way to do this is to use
this new perspective we have because of
our social distancing and our self
isolation and pick up one of the
biographies of Jesus Matthew Mark Luke
John and as you read you’ll be able to
examine Jesus with with a new
understanding and a new appreciation of
of just how valuable it is that Jesus
didn’t just come to heal us that he was
unafraid to give us the very thing that
you and I want more than anything else
in this season of self isolation and
social distancing presence

Every once in a while we get something on the news cycle that makes us all think about the end of the world. Pandemics, war, earthquakes.

But when Jesus talks about the end times, there’s two things he wants us to know. And I’ll do my best to summarize it in 3 minutes!

So stop listening to so-called experts predicting when the end of the world will come. (None of them have been right!) And stop over-analyzing if we’re at the start of Armageddon or if we’re in the middle of the seven-years of tribulation. And START thinking about what Jesus wants you to think about when it comes to the end of the world.

this is a three minutes and timer and
I’m gonna try to tell you everything
that Jesus wants you to know about the
end times and under three minutes you
ready and go everybody my name is Chris
Pavle and welcome to what Jesus says
about where Jesus speaks for himself so
you can respond for yourself and don’t
forget to hit subscribe so you can stay
up to date on what Jesus says about
topics important to you topics like the
end times now I didn’t just pick this
topic out of thin air and the days and
weeks leading up to Easter Christians
will do a lot to prepare for Easter
maybe you’ve heard about people giving
up things for Lent and it’s not just to
prepare ourselves for Easter also it’s
to prepare ourselves for something else
and to remind ourselves that we’re
preparing for something else
Christ’s return the end times are maguet
Judgment Day because just before his
arrest and there’s an execution Jesus
told his followers I’m coming back I
will return and these are the things
that you’ll be seeing when I do and he
talks about you know famine and Wars and
earthquakes you can read it for yourself
and a biography of Jesus called Matthew
and written by a man named Matthew in
chapter 24 obviously we don’t time to
get into all that but when you read it
all regardless of how you read the signs
and all the way what does it mean and
the end times is he coming once he’s
coming to it however you read it there’s
two things that Jesus wants you to know
number one no one knows no one knows the
day or hour he’s gonna return in fact he
says it’s about that day or hour no one
knows not even the angels in heaven nor
the son but only the father and again he
says you do not know on what day the
Lord will come and again you do not know
the day or hour and then again he says
so you must also be ready because the
Son of Man will come at an hour when you
do not expect him and this here points
to the second thing that Jesus wants you
to know about the end times get ready
you don’t know the day or hour but you
can get ready now how do you do that
look into what Jesus says about himself
who he says he is the forgiveness that
he says he came to bring for you while
you do that spend time on the things
that matters take care of the people in
your life love them serve that for their
forgiveness because once he comes
time’s up that was pretty cool I just
finished like them those are the two
things Jesus wants you to know no one
knows the day or hour and get ready
that’s what he wants you to know about
the end times now I’ve got some other
videos over here that I think you might
enjoy don’t forget to check those out
and also don’t forget to hit subscribe
thank you guys so much I hope you
enjoyed this video and we will see you
soon bye bye

The devil has been made into a cartoon.
Or an excuse for bad behavior.
Or a weapon to modify behavior.

But how does it change our view of the prince of darkness if we step away from the picture of a red man with horns and a pitchfork and we look at what Jesus says about Satan?

Listen in as we bring Christians and non-Christians together and have them react to what Jesus says about the devil.

Do you have a similar reaction, or something else to say? Leave a comment and let me know!

hey everybody my name is crisp Avila and
welcome to what Jesus says about where
Jesus speaks for himself so you can
respond for yourself and don’t forget to
hit subscribe so you can stay up to date
on what Jesus says about topics
important to you topics like the devil
and since what Jesus says about the
devil is so polarizing I thought it’d be
great to get together with a group of
Christians and non-christians so they
could react to the words of Jesus and we
had the cameras rolling so you can see
how that conversation went
take a look speaking of the devil one
account jesus said if god were your
father you would love me for I have come
here from God I have not come on my own
God sent me but you you belong to your
father the devil and you want to carry
out your father’s desires when he lies
he speaks his native tongue for his a
liar and the father of lies I just asked
real quick do you believe there is a
devil yes yes but what was they know you
would say no there is no devil nope no
devil yeah yes there is yes kinda
thought yeah there’s a light in a dark
to everybody and I would like to think
that it you know the dark is definitely
influenced by the devil I don’t think
he’s a presence of evil but I think he
is ruler of all that which is evil in
the world he was a fallen angel that he
was created as an angel that’s your
understanding is that he’s a fallen
angel yeah
God created being a created being
created being who rebelled against God
no offense to your beliefs but I’ve
always viewed the devil as an excuse
I kind of agree yeah it’s the devil made
me do it no you made you do that I think
oftentimes Christians can use the devil
as a scapegoat right and say oh well
there’s there’s there’s the evil one
again doing this thing making this
happen to me it’s just a reality but
it’s not meant to be an excuse whatever
you want to call it God devil good evil
what have you
I believe that there’s a middle it’s not
good it’s not evil it’s it’s kind of
what you were describing it’s just it’s
a neutral a neutral
I mean it’s ruined for lack of a better
term examples yeah I think this is all
great we’re all kind of putting our own
Western world view trying to understand
these words but Jesus says if you love
me you God as your father if you don’t
love me your father is the devil and I
don’t think Jesus is really giving much
room for Switzerland it’s either one or
the other you know am I really not I
feel like they always say Devils the god
of this world like earthly things you
know what worldly things and worldly
people people that aren’t followers of
Jesus are basically working for the
devil oh okay what do you guys think of
that people where I’m following
Jesus are working for the devil and
they’re the ones proves it I don’t know
are you offended when you hear that
no no he’s entitled to some pity
Christmas my whole life as long as the
same respect is given to me I want to go
back to Jesus’s words because I think
that’s a little bit easier instead of
like getting up set up mic and pick on
him because thank you yeah and Mike’s
defense he didn’t say this right and
Mike’s defense he didn’t say this when
Jesus says even more directly then than
Mike here when Jesus says if you love me
you’re child of my father in heaven if
you don’t love me your father as the
devil are you offended at him so there
you go let me ask a really simple
question I’d love to see your comment
below how do you react to those words
I’d love for you to leave your comment
below also while you’re doing that I’ve
got some videos over here of what Jesus
says about topics important to you make
sure you take a look and don’t forget to
subscribe thanks and we’ll see you soon

Maybe finding peace starts with how we define peace?

Google “peace” and you’ll get all sorts of images of euphoric people with their eyes closed or holding hands and singing Kumbaya. Those are all well and good, but they’re all… fragile. One fender bender, one late fee, or one argument is all it takes to turn all that calm into chaos.

But what Jesus says about peace doesn’t quite match up with those images. Like, at all. And so finding peace starts with redefining peace, entirely.

And when we do, we end up with a peace that isn’t so fragile.

ever wonder how Jesus could be the
Prince of Peace if there’s so much war
we should talk about it hey everybody my
name is crisp Avila welcome to what
Jesus says about where Jesus speaks for
himself so you can respond for yourself
and don’t forget to hit subscribe so you
can stay up to date on what Jesus says
about topics important to you topics
like peace now before we talk about what
Jesus says about peace we need to talk
about what Jesus thought about when
Jesus thought about peace I think I said
that right in Hebrew which is one of the
languages Jesus spoke the word for peace
is this word Shalom and Shalom is not so
much like peace as in the absence of
conflict Shalom is peace as in like
wholeness or completeness so like if you
have a puzzle a jigsaw puzzle when it’s
all put together
that’s Shalom but a jigsaw puzzle
missing a piece that’s not Sloane or not
peace or whatever think about any time
in your life when you have conflict or
chaos with where you’re fighting with
somebody it’s not so much that there’s
the presence of conflict you don’t have
peace or Shalom because someone or
something is missing things are out of
place things aren’t as they should be
which means when you reconcile with
someone suddenly things are back to the
way they should be you have peace you
have Shalom what’s really interesting is
that in Jewish thought it’s not just
that we have not Shalom or a lack of
peace with people we also have not
Shalom or a lack of peace with God
because we rebelled against him and
things are not as they should be that
something is missing something is broken
and so we are people who are longing for
Shalom Shalom within ourselves Shalom
with people and Shalom with God so now
that we know what Jesus thought about
when Jesus thought about peace let’s
look at what Jesus actually says about
peace perhaps the most comforting
teaching on peace that Jesus gives to
you comes in the night where he’s
betrayed it’s just before his arrest and
his execution his followers all freaking
out and he tells them
guys-guys-guys-guys
everything I’ve taught you I’ve told you
these things so that in me you may have
peace in this world you will have
but take heart because I have overcome
the world and isn’t that interesting he
actually promises conflict
he promises turmoil and trouble in this
world you will have trouble what Jesus
is about to do his death and a cross and
what we would say is his resurrection
gives us peace with God with each other
and with the world even when we find
ourselves in conflict and in the midst
of war we can have peace I admit I wish
Jesus would promise no more Wars no more
conflict but instead he promises
something else he promises peace then
speaking of our last video if you
haven’t seen it yet you can look right
over here and see what Jesus says about
war also don’t forget to hit subscribe
thank you guys so much we’ll see you
soon
