If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that plans change.

A minor change of plans is no big deal. But when a change of plans is big enough to cancel something likeโ€“oh, I don’t knowโ€“your anniversary trip to Jamaica, that’s a different story.

Every sickness, every setback, every breakup, is a change of our best laid plans. And how we respond when our plans are highjacked often makes matters worseโ€“we get manipulative, childish, depressed, and take all sorts of self-medicating measures to try to feel the illusion of control again.

But in the biographies of Jesus, we actually see another way you and I can respond when plans change. The way this year has gone, I have a feeling we’ll get a chance to put in practice in the near future.

Chances are, youโ€™ve never tried to do what Jesus says to do about worry.

Worry doesnโ€™t just steal our happiness. Like falling dominoes, worry robs our health, our diet, our blood pressure, our relationships, and more.

So it shouldnโ€™t surprise us that Jesus, who says he came to GIVE us a full life, would like to stop worry and anxiety from robbing us of that life.

But his teaching is so subtle, so fast, itโ€™s rarely practiced. Letโ€™s see what happens when you give it a try.

where Jesus wants to teach you about
worry only takes about a minute hey my
name is Chris Paulo and welcome to what
Jesus says about where Jesus speaks for
himself so you can respond for yourself
and don’t forget to hit like and
subscribe so you can stay up to date on
what Jesus says about topics important
to you topics like what Jesus says about
worry and I don’t know what’s causing
you to worry right now maybe it’s a loss
of something or to fear something that
you feel threatened whatever it is
there’s this one time where Jesus is
teaching a particularly anxious group of
people and he tells them do not worry
look at the birds they neither sow or
reap or store in barns and yet your
heavenly Father feeds them and on the
surface we’re like okay that’s nice
Jesus look at the birds okay what else
you got but this is actually one of
those teachings that I think people know
but actually don’t practice because in
one of the biographies of Jesus written
by a man named Luke the word for look
that he uses there is consider or wave
or gaze upon until something is
discovered weird that you and I would
use for that as meditate so here’s what
I’d like to do right now I’d actually
like to practice this teaching of Jesus
and so whatever you’re feeling right now
whatever you’re doing right now let’s
just press pause on all of it and we’re
gonna put up a live cam of birds right
now who are doing their bird thing and
and we’re gonna see what we discover
when we do what Jesus suggests and
consider the birds it’s just one minute
you can do this you ready here we go
[Music]
yes so what did you discover for me
personally there is something about
their carefree nature and there’s
something about like just the way they
went about their business but but now
that we’ve considered the birds
Jesus has three follow-up questions that
he asks ready so the first question he
asks is kind of rhetorical he says are
you not more valuable than the birds and
he’s not saying the birds aren’t
valuable he’s just saying that on the
sliding scale of life there’s birds but
you are more valuable than birds to your
heavenly Father and then the second
question he asks is can any of you by
worrying add a single hour to your life
worry subtracts our energy it subtracts
our attention it subtracts from our
happiness you get exercise to extend
your life you can eat healthy to extend
your life but worry will not extend your
life and then we get to our third
question and this one’s not rhetorical
this one’s actually for reflection and
he says since you cannot do this very
little thing why do you worry about the
rest and here Jesus is being kind of
blunt he’s bringing us to a recognition
of what we can and can’t control and
when we’re faced with that uncertainty
of what we can’t control we have two
choices either worry or trust and so I’d
love to hear your answer in your
comments below why do you worry about
the rest gonna take a little bit of
honesty but I really I think we’ll all
benefit from this discussion so I look
forward to hearing what you have to say
we’ll see you soon

Every once in a while we get something on the news cycle that makes us all think about the end of the world. Pandemics, war, earthquakes.

But when Jesus talks about the end times, there’s two things he wants us to know. And I’ll do my best to summarize it in 3 minutes!

So stop listening to so-called experts predicting when the end of the world will come. (None of them have been right!) And stop over-analyzing if we’re at the start of Armageddon or if we’re in the middle of the seven-years of tribulation. And START thinking about what Jesus wants you to think about when it comes to the end of the world.

this is a three minutes and timer and
I’m gonna try to tell you everything
that Jesus wants you to know about the
end times and under three minutes you
ready and go everybody my name is Chris
Pavle and welcome to what Jesus says
about where Jesus speaks for himself so
you can respond for yourself and don’t
forget to hit subscribe so you can stay
up to date on what Jesus says about
topics important to you topics like the
end times now I didn’t just pick this
topic out of thin air and the days and
weeks leading up to Easter Christians
will do a lot to prepare for Easter
maybe you’ve heard about people giving
up things for Lent and it’s not just to
prepare ourselves for Easter also it’s
to prepare ourselves for something else
and to remind ourselves that we’re
preparing for something else
Christ’s return the end times are maguet
Judgment Day because just before his
arrest and there’s an execution Jesus
told his followers I’m coming back I
will return and these are the things
that you’ll be seeing when I do and he
talks about you know famine and Wars and
earthquakes you can read it for yourself
and a biography of Jesus called Matthew
and written by a man named Matthew in
chapter 24 obviously we don’t time to
get into all that but when you read it
all regardless of how you read the signs
and all the way what does it mean and
the end times is he coming once he’s
coming to it however you read it there’s
two things that Jesus wants you to know
number one no one knows no one knows the
day or hour he’s gonna return in fact he
says it’s about that day or hour no one
knows not even the angels in heaven nor
the son but only the father and again he
says you do not know on what day the
Lord will come and again you do not know
the day or hour and then again he says
so you must also be ready because the
Son of Man will come at an hour when you
do not expect him and this here points
to the second thing that Jesus wants you
to know about the end times get ready
you don’t know the day or hour but you
can get ready now how do you do that
look into what Jesus says about himself
who he says he is the forgiveness that
he says he came to bring for you while
you do that spend time on the things
that matters take care of the people in
your life love them serve that for their
forgiveness because once he comes
time’s up that was pretty cool I just
finished like them those are the two
things Jesus wants you to know no one
knows the day or hour and get ready
that’s what he wants you to know about
the end times now I’ve got some other
videos over here that I think you might
enjoy don’t forget to check those out
and also don’t forget to hit subscribe
thank you guys so much I hope you
enjoyed this video and we will see you
soon bye bye

The devil has been made into a cartoon.
Or an excuse for bad behavior.
Or a weapon to modify behavior.

But how does it change our view of the prince of darkness if we step away from the picture of a red man with horns and a pitchfork and we look at what Jesus says about Satan?

Listen in as we bring Christians and non-Christians together and have them react to what Jesus says about the devil.

Do you have a similar reaction, or something else to say? Leave a comment and let me know!

hey everybody my name is crisp Avila and
welcome to what Jesus says about where
Jesus speaks for himself so you can
respond for yourself and don’t forget to
hit subscribe so you can stay up to date
on what Jesus says about topics
important to you topics like the devil
and since what Jesus says about the
devil is so polarizing I thought it’d be
great to get together with a group of
Christians and non-christians so they
could react to the words of Jesus and we
had the cameras rolling so you can see
how that conversation went
take a look speaking of the devil one
account jesus said if god were your
father you would love me for I have come
here from God I have not come on my own
God sent me but you you belong to your
father the devil and you want to carry
out your father’s desires when he lies
he speaks his native tongue for his a
liar and the father of lies I just asked
real quick do you believe there is a
devil yes yes but what was they know you
would say no there is no devil nope no
devil yeah yes there is yes kinda
thought yeah there’s a light in a dark
to everybody and I would like to think
that it you know the dark is definitely
influenced by the devil I don’t think
he’s a presence of evil but I think he
is ruler of all that which is evil in
the world he was a fallen angel that he
was created as an angel that’s your
understanding is that he’s a fallen
angel yeah
God created being a created being
created being who rebelled against God
no offense to your beliefs but I’ve
always viewed the devil as an excuse
I kind of agree yeah it’s the devil made
me do it no you made you do that I think
oftentimes Christians can use the devil
as a scapegoat right and say oh well
there’s there’s there’s the evil one
again doing this thing making this
happen to me it’s just a reality but
it’s not meant to be an excuse whatever
you want to call it God devil good evil
what have you
I believe that there’s a middle it’s not
good it’s not evil it’s it’s kind of
what you were describing it’s just it’s
a neutral a neutral
I mean it’s ruined for lack of a better
term examples yeah I think this is all
great we’re all kind of putting our own
Western world view trying to understand
these words but Jesus says if you love
me you God as your father if you don’t
love me your father is the devil and I
don’t think Jesus is really giving much
room for Switzerland it’s either one or
the other you know am I really not I
feel like they always say Devils the god
of this world like earthly things you
know what worldly things and worldly
people people that aren’t followers of
Jesus are basically working for the
devil oh okay what do you guys think of
that people where I’m following
Jesus are working for the devil and
they’re the ones proves it I don’t know
are you offended when you hear that
no no he’s entitled to some pity
Christmas my whole life as long as the
same respect is given to me I want to go
back to Jesus’s words because I think
that’s a little bit easier instead of
like getting up set up mic and pick on
him because thank you yeah and Mike’s
defense he didn’t say this right and
Mike’s defense he didn’t say this when
Jesus says even more directly then than
Mike here when Jesus says if you love me
you’re child of my father in heaven if
you don’t love me your father as the
devil are you offended at him so there
you go let me ask a really simple
question I’d love to see your comment
below how do you react to those words
I’d love for you to leave your comment
below also while you’re doing that I’ve
got some videos over here of what Jesus
says about topics important to you make
sure you take a look and don’t forget to
subscribe thanks and we’ll see you soon

There’s no wrong way to pray, but there is a better way.

The more I read the teachings of Jesus, the more I realized that my prayers didn’t sound like the prayers in Scripture. Not because my prayers weren’t bold enough, or long enough. But because my prayers were missing something.

And I’ve prayed with enough people over the years, that I’m willing to bet the same is true for you.

The good news? It’s a really, really simple fix.

regardless of what you think about
prayer whether you’ve never prayed
before or whether you pray everyday I
think what Jesus says about prayer is
gonna challenge all of us let’s get
right to it hey everybody my name is
Chris Popolo and welcome to what Jesus
says about where Jesus speaks for
himself so you can respond for yourself
and don’t forget to hit like and
subscribe in that little bell below so
you can stay up to date on what Jesus
says about topics important to you now
when you look at what Jesus says about
prayer maybe you’re one of those people
who says prayer doesn’t work just leave
your thoughts and prayers to yourself
please or maybe you’re one of those
people who believe you know all you got
to do is believe hard enough and God
will give you whatever it is you’re
asking for but you look at what Jesus
says about prayer I think it challenges
all of our expectations because when you
take all of Jesus’s teachings on prayer
and you kind of look at them as a
collective whole there’s one word that
keeps on popping up that I think it’s
the heart of what Jesus is trying to
teach like for instance this is one time
where he’s teaching this crowd of people
about prayer and he says which of you if
your son asks you for bread will give
him a stone or if he asks for a fish
will give him a snake if you then though
you are evil know how to give good gifts
to your children how much more will your
Father in Heaven give good gifts to
those who ask now one possible reaction
here is like oh really okay God’s gonna
give me whatever I ask for
you know golden goose God’s not real
prayer doesn’t work but that’s treating
these words of Jesus like their case law
or that he’s legally bound to these
words and if you remember the beginning
what he said it says which of you if
your son asks you for bread this this is
getting to the heart of a father and a
parent-child relationship but there’s
another word and what Jesus teaches here
that you’ll see over and over again and
Jesus is teaching on prayer that I think
is a really powerful word for us to look
at it’s this word ask I tell people all
the time that they can ask for anything
in prayer because the ask is yours
the answer is his when it comes to
people will say things like oh hey can I
borrow the keys to your car or have
go out of town for the weekend can you
watch my house for me but when it comes
to asking God for things we’ll say
things like Oh God hey please be with my
aunt Cindy and her hip surgery or God
please give us safe travels on our trip
and the difference between when we ask
people for things and we ask God for
things comes down to this little thing
called a question mark and one of the
ways that you can live out those
teaching to ask God for things in prayer
is to remember the power of a question
mark because the ask is yours the answer
is his so it’s not God please heal my
aunt Cindy’s hip period it’s God will
you please heal my aunt Cindy’s hip
question mark it’s not God give me a
safe travels period is God will you
please give us safe travel question mark
and suddenly there with the power of a
question mark now I’m freed up to ask
for bold things God will you please heal
my marriage question mark God will you
please come and help our financial
situation question mark and you’re free
to ask for bold impossible and
incredible things because the ask is
yours and the answer is his so here’s
what I would like to hear from you think
of the last thing that you prayed to God
for word the last time you ask God for
something think of whatever it was think
of the last thing it was okay and once
he got it in your mind change it and do
a question put a will you or can you in
front of it and then put a question mark
at the end of it and watch what happens
and and then leave your reaction in the
comment section below it was that
strange was a different what was
different about it leave that in the
comment section below and also I’ve got
some other videos on prayer that you can
check out right over here thank you guys
so much and we’ll see soon

Merry Christmas everybody this is the
final entry and the 25 things Jesus says
about Christmas which means if you’re
following this in real time it’s
Christmas Day and I’m personally honored
and I’m proud of you even that you would
take the time to go through the season
like this with me and to allow Jesus’s
words to challenge you and to shape the
way you celebrate the season to go
deeper into not just coast this season
but to get introspective and to try to
extract something meaningful out of it I
know I’ve learned a lot I’ve had a ton
of fun putting these videos together and
I hope the same is true for you in fact
of these 25 videos if you could leave a
comment below which one of these videos
stood out to you the most which one was
most impactful I’d love to hear your
answers now if you remember we’ve been
ending our countdown by going through
the account of when Jesus stood in his
home synagogue and and read the Prophet
Isaiah’s prophecy about the Messiah and
to see how Jesus fulfills that criteria
and today we end Isaiah’s prophecy with
number one of our countdown when Jesus
reads he has sent me to proclaim the
year of the Lord’s favor now you might
be thinking the what the year of the
Lord’s favor we’re ending our countdown
on this but this is actually a really
powerful term and let me explain in a
couple weeks you’re likely going to be
getting a credit card bill from you know
a purchase that you made in December and
you’re gonna be hating yourself in
January for the way you overspent at
Christmas I know this because the
average debt that people incur in the
month of December is 1054 dollars now
imagine if you open your credit card
bill next month and instead of saying
1054 dollars it says paid in full I know
right
it’d be pretty incredible in the Jewish
system people would work for six years
and and there was just this
understanding that inequity would build
up in the system over the course of
those six years some folks would incur
debt and some folks would collect
interest and those debts they would be
cancelled in full and in Judaism God
would command this year of Jubilee or
the year of the Lord’s favor so that you
would remember God’s promise to remember
your sin
no more when Jesus was standing in the
synagogue reading those words he was
proclaiming that now now we are living
in the year of the Lord’s favor because
he has come to pay our debts in full and
ultimately what Jesus says about
Christmas is that this is just the
beginning of the year of the Lord’s
favor I hope that all of the 25 things
Jesus says about Christmas changes the
way you celebrate this day and changes
the way you hear these words Merry
Christmas

I don’t know how to make paper chains.

Every day leading up to Christmas I’ll count down the “25 Things Jesus Says About Christmas” to see how it changes the way you and I celebrate the season when we go straight to the source!

Merry Christmas everybody my name is
Chris Pavle and you found the 25 things
Jesus says about Christmas you see how
it changes the way you and I celebrate
the season when we go straight to the
source now if you’re following us in
real time Christmas Eve is here it is
Christmas and man I can just feel the
excitement in the air I love this time
of year actually think I like Christmas
even more that like Christmas day my
paper chain is falling apart here hang
on a second while I try to fix this
something about the mystique and
intrigue and mystery of Christmas Eve
just makes me feel alive and as we see
number 2 of our countdown that’s exactly
how we should feel now if you remember
back from our last couple videos we’ve
been looking at this account from the
biographies of Jesus where he returns to
his home synagogue and reads a prophecy
about the Messiah and everyone kind of
holds that criteria up to Jesus and
that’s what we’re doing is we close out
our countdown here and oh my goodness
these preteens keep on falling apart on
me my wife is more crafty than I am I
should have had her make this now Jesus
continues to read through Isaiah’s
prophecy and he reads the words he has
sent me to set the oppressed free now if
you’ve grown up with any sort of
privilege or prosperity these are hard
words to understand look at this I guess
somehow it’s fitting that this keeps
falling apart the chains keep on
breaking because it’s demonstrating when
Jesus says here but just take a moment
to ask somebody who’s experienced any
sort of oppression because of their race
their gender their orientation their
nationality and they can tell you what
it’s like to be truly oppressed a couple
weeks ago I was talking to my neighbor
who’s african-american and he was
telling me about what it was like to
grow up in a segregated south and
listening to his stories oh my gosh this
change keep breaking but listening to
his stories it was just it was powerful
and I was touched by it but no matter
how moved and emotional and touched I am
by his stories I don’t know what it’s
like to live his experience now if you
applied that same concept to Jesus and
you follow his claims he’s sitting up in
heaven separated from all sorts of
suffering and pain and sorrow so he
comes down from heaven to be with us and
to experience what we experience on a
day-to-day basis
Saints keep breaking and he came to be
oppressed and associate himself with the
oppressed and he left all of the wealth
and privilege and power of
to come be with us that he might set the
oppressed free and how does this change
the way you and I celebrate the season
well let’s reverse engineer this whole
idea of Jesus breaking the chains of
oppression so right now just think of
any blessing that you have any kind of
blessing something that you’ve received
that was a gift that you didn’t earn it
was just given to you think of any
blessing and then recognize that
whatever you call a blessing to somebody
else who doesn’t have it they call it a
privilege they don’t have the privilege
of experiencing that thing and that
blessing that you just thought of you
can share it with somebody else if
you’re sitting in your house and you
thought of your utilities you can call a
utility company and offer to pay
somebody’s utility bill seriously you
can do that right now you can pick up
the phone call utility company and pay
for an unpaid bill if you’ve got a
family and friends you can go to a
nursing home and ask if anybody is
lonely this season and just sit down and
ask them how they’re doing and spend
some time talking with them and getting
to know them almost I’m gonna stop
trying to fix these because it’s okay
it’s the chains break especially if
you’re in a place where you can employ
others I encourage you to employ
somebody who doesn’t have the skill set
you’re looking for teach them and train
them in a skill set and give them an
employable skill that moves them forward
in life and when you do that when you
set the oppressed free when you share
your blessings you have a whole new
criteria to consider is this who the
Messiah must be that’s not all that
Jesus says about Christmas I know it’s
Christmas Eve but if you would like to
consider some more of what Jesus says
about Christmas I’ve got a playlist

five golden rings actually those aren’t
the rings they were talking about but it
works hey everybody my name is Chris
Paula welcome to what Jesus says about
what we’re talking about the 25 things
Jesus says about Christmas because we
want to see how it changes the way you
and I celebrate the season when we go
straight to the source and we are on
number five of our countdown which means
we’re getting really really close to
Christmas Day now in our last video we
talked about how Jesus went back to his
hometown and if you missed it you can
check it out in this little card that
pops up right here
but when Jesus went to his hometown he
basically declared that he is the
Messiah and everybody in the synagogue
holds up
Isaiah’s criteria for the Messiah to
Jesus and they make a conclusion for
themselves if they think he is Messiah
based on this criteria and what we’re
gonna do in the rest of our countdown is
look at the different things that Isaiah
said the Messiah would be as we continue
our countdown of the 25 things Jesus
says about Christmas right after Jesus
reads that the Spirit of the Lord is on
me he has anointed me he says these
words he has sent me to proclaim good
news to the poor now I don’t know if you
knew this but Jesus was raised in
poverty himself in fact right after his
birth instead of presenting a normal
offering his parents went to the temple
and presented a peasant’s offering
instead so when Jesus reads these words
that he has sent me to proclaim good
news to the poor
that good news begins not just that he
is for the poor but that he is with them
and so being from poverty himself
Jesus’s entire ministry he is always
praising the poor like in the
biographies of Jesus we have accounts
where he’s praising the offering of a
poor Widow and criticizing the offering
of a rich man he chastised the rich and
he told them that their wealth made it
difficult to enter the kingdom of God
and on the flip side he told the poor
they were already blessed because theirs
was the kingdom of heaven and there’s a
time where Jesus was saddened by a rich
man who couldn’t sell everything you
have and give to the poor and Jesus
praised a rich man named Zacchaeus when
he did just that so when Jesus says he
is sent to proclaim good news to the
poor
these aren’t just words he cared for
affirmed and elevated the poor
throughout his entire ministry so out of
these words change the way that you and
I celebrate the season well you may not
see yourself as rich but if you have a
smartphone or a computer if you have
multiple pairs of shoes if you have
running water then to the half of the
planet that lives on less than $5 a day
you’re wealthy ninety-five percent of
the planet makes less than $35,000 a
year so in the next few days whenever
you see a Salvation Army person ringing
a bell proclaim good news to the poor
and give and not just some spare change
or a few bucks but blow them away give a
lavish amount whatever that is for you
give so much that if you received it you
consider it good news give until it
hurts and yes it’ll be hard but when you
do this you can ask yourself on an
experience level why is this a necessary
trait of the Messiah and frankly it’s a
message you shouldn’t answer and can’t
answer until you’ve tried now this isn’t
all that Jesus says about Christmas
we’ve got a playlist right here of the
other 25 things that Jesus says about
Christmas go ahead and take a look and
we will see you soon Merry Christmas

Join us for our next large group gathering: Sunday, July 27th at 10AM
