Zoom is the new four-letter word.

In January of 20202, 10 million people were using Zoom. Six months later, that number had jumped to 300 million users as families, businesses, and classrooms all Zoomed their way through Social Isolation. In April alone, Zoom reported over 200 TRILLION minutes of use.

But in spite of its benefits, researchers are starting to notice that Zoom can make social isolation worse. Teachers are reporting “Zoom burnout” in students. Businesses are noting a rise in fatigue in workers. The sample size is still relatively small and new, but it seems like Zoom is leading to an increase in emotions ranging from depression to anxiety to–ironically–loneliness.

Surprisingly enough, Jesus speaks to why Zoom makes social isolation worse, and what you can do to make it better.

WHY I DO THIS
What Jesus Says About is sponsored by THRED, an organization committed to open and honest conversations about life, faith, and Jesus.
